Professionally known as Vinayan, T. G. Vinayakumar is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, and lyricist who primarily works in Malayalam cinema with sporadic appearances in Tamil cinema. He has worked on four Tamil films, one Telugu film, and forty Malayalam films.
Vinayan’s career began with the release of Super Star.Additionally, he directed the following movies: Dada Sahib, Vellinakshatram, Aakasha Ganga, Rakshasa Rajavu, Enn mana vaanil, Independence, Sathyam, Albhuthadweep, Athishayan, Dracula, and Sipayi Lahala. Moreover, he directed the films Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Akasha Ganga 2, Karumadikkuttan, Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan, and Kasi (Tamil). His films fall within the humour, horror, action, fantasy, and family drama categories.
A few performers and singers in the Malayalam cinema industry were also introduced by Vinayan. Vinayan has introduced a number of performers and singers in Malayalam, including Jayasurya, Indrajith Sukumaran, Anoop Menon, Honey Rose, Priyamani, Manikkuttan, Suresh Krishna, Meghana Raj, Lakshmi Menon, Sithara (singer), Sudeep Kumar (singer), and others.
For the first time ever, Vinayan wrote and directed the 2005 picture Albhuthadweep (Wonder Island), which starred almost 300 dwarfs. The film’s two-foot-tall hero, Ajayan, was included into the Guinness Book of Records, and Vinayan was mentioned in the Limca Book of Records of India. The movie won both the Cinema Express and the FilmFare awards. Vinayan successfully recreated it in Tamil in 2007.
