Vijay C. Kumar is a cinematographer. He gained notoriety after winning a Nandi Award for the movie Godavari. His use of natural colors, tele-focus shots, lighting techniques, and balancing the depth of focus between the subject and the object have all earned him praise from critics. The well-known cinematographers C. Nageswara Rao and C. Sanadhana are the parents of Vijay. At forty-two years old, Nageswara passed away when Vijay was just seven years old. At the age of thirteen, his mother forced him to follow in Nageswara’s footsteps by hiring him as an apprentice in Sarada Enterprises’ outdoor division, which is currently known as Anand Cine Services.
In the Hindi and Telugu film industries, Vijay worked for eight years under a number of cinematographers, including S. Venkataratnam, V. S. R. Swami, Baba Azmi, Ehsaan Arya, Behran Mukherjee, Shomandar Roy, S. Gopal Reddy, S. S. Lal, and Navi Kanth Nagaich. Vijay’s practical experience over these eight years laid the foundation for the development of his cinematography techniques. Vijay was hired by Lok Singh in 1984 to work as an operating cameraman on the movie Vijetha. Additionally, Vijay worked as a camera operator in Rakshashudu, Yama Kinkarudu, Yama Kamalam, Magaderudu, Subha Lekha, and Pasi Vadu Pramnam. In 1988, Vijay made his feature film debut as a cinematographer for Jaya Krishna in the hit movie Vivaah Bhojanambu, directed by Jandhyala. That same year, Vijay collaborated with Jandhyala on Neeku Naaku Pellanta.
His cinematography skills were further refined by his work in Agraham and Ammoru. Vijay received the 2006 Nandi Award for Best Cinematographer for his work on Sekhar Kammula’s Godavari. Sekhar and Vijay first collaborated on the film Dollar Dreams, for which Sekhar was honored with the 47th National Film Festival’s Best Director prize. Since then, the two have worked together on practically all of Sekhar’s movies, including the ones that were already mentioned, such as Happy Days, Anand, Anamika, and Life is Beautiful.
On Sekhar’s most recent Telugu project, Fidaa, Vijay is employed. The Bollywood film Kahaani was remade as the 2014 film Anamika. Nee Engae En Anbe is the Tamil name given to Anamika. Samanyudu, Dil, Andhrudu, Bachelors, Jai Bhajaranga Bhali, and numerous other noteworthy projects are among Vijay’s other triumphant ventures. He also performed unofficial work in 1990, replacing the original cinematographer K. S. Hari, who was unable to finish the project, on producer Shyam Prasad’s Ankusham. Vijay was employed in Kanna too.
