Krish, a versatile Indian artist involved in both acting and singing, has made a significant mark in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. His journey into the world of Tamil cinema began as a playback singer when the acclaimed duo of Gautham Vasudev Menon and Harris Jayaraj introduced him in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. The song “Manjal Veyyil” served as his debut and marked the commencement of a dual career as a playback singer and actor.
Born in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, Krish’s early life took a turn when his banker father relocated to New York City for work. Spending 15 years in the United States, Krish not only adapted to a new lifestyle but also engaged in the entertainment industry. Working as an assistant on sets such as The Cosby Show and National Treasure: Book of Secrets, he gained valuable experience in pre-production.
Additionally, he pursued an acting course at the New York Film Academy and even graced Broadway in a production of Aladdin by Walt Disney. Upon returning to Chennai, Krish embarked on a journey to establish himself as an actor. Before gaining recognition in the film industry, he showcased his singing talents in stage shows and cultural events. The turning point came when composer Ganesh Kumar recommended him to Harris Jayaraj, leading to Krish’s debut as a playback singer in Tamil films with “Manjal Veiyil”.
This collaboration opened doors to more successful songs like “June Ponal July Kaatru,” “Sakiyae,” “Oru Mugamo,” and “Adiye Kolluthey.” Despite offers for acting roles in Tamil films, Krish maintained his insistence on playing lead roles. While he declined an offer from K. V. Anand to play a supporting role in Ko, he eventually accepted a chance offered by producer Ibrahim Rowther.
This led to his lead role in Puriyadha Anandam Puthithaga Arambam, a romantic love story alongside Srushti Dange. Although the film had a low-key opening and received negative reviews, Krish continued to explore his artistic expression. In June 2015, Krish diversified his creative portfolio by releasing an independent six-track music album. Collaborating with composer Vijay Ebenezer, the album featured videos with Nikesha Patel.
The song “Maaya” received significant promotion, showcasing Krish’s commitment to both his music and acting endeavors. This independent project reflected his dedication and passion for the arts, highlighting Krish as a multifaceted talent in the Indian entertainment industry.
