On September 12, 1959, Jayanan Vincent, now 57 years old, was born in India. From the Black and White to the Digital eras, Vincent has recorded almost 200 Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Bollywood films. He is the older brother of aspiring ace cinematographer Ajayan Vincent and the son of famed cinematographer/director Aloysius Vincent, who passed away in 2010. He was born in Kerala’s Calicut. The first person in Calicut to own his own modern type of studio, dubbed “Chitra Studio,” was his grandpa George Vincent. For the 1976 movie Jyothi, he began working as an apprentice in the camera department. He struggled for a while before making his cinematography debut in the 1978 movie Anappachan. Despite the failure of the movie, Vincent was supported by others in the business. After that, Vincent begins to receive more opportunities, and he eventually declares that the 1980 blockbuster Guru, starring Kamal Haasan and featuring great camerawork, was his breakthrough.
He received a great deal of accolades for his camerawork in the 1984 Mammootty & Mohanlal film Adiyozhukkukal. For this, Vincent received the Kerala State Film Award. Vincent kept experimenting with new camera techniques, and his efforts were rewarded in 1999 with the prestigious Nandi Film Awards for Premante Idera. After Tokkoro Donga (2002), Vincent experienced a setback and took a 7-year break. After the box office triumphs of Gabbar Singh (2012) and Power (2014), he regained his fame. Vincent most recently worked as second unit camera crew for Gabbar Singh Returns (2016). Vizag is Vincent’s first choice for travel, according to him. Additionally, he feels that it is the responsibility of the cinematographers to display the stars as opulently as the audience desires. In the Tollywood film business, Jayanan Vincent is a role model for many aspiring cinematographers. According to Vincent, who prefers to produce original content, Hollywood movies have very little of an influence on him.
