Suja Varunee

Biography:

Suja Varunee is an Indian actress known for her roles in movies across various South Indian languages, including Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam. She achieved recognition as the champion of the show BB Jodigal.

At the age of fourteen, Suja Varunee was chosen to play the lead role in the coming-of-age romantic drama “Plus Two” (2002), thanks to a recommendation from her neighbor, cinematographer Rajarajan, to the film’s director Ramana. Initially, her parents were hesitant about allowing her to act in films at such a young age but later consented.

Throughout the mid-2000s, Suja gained recognition for her glamorous single song appearances in movies such as “Maayavi” (2005), “Pallikoodam” (2007), “Kuselan” (2008), and “Jayamkondaan” (2008). She also took on minor supporting roles in films like A. K. Lohithadas’s “Kasthuri Maan” (2005) and “Masala” (2005). However, she later regretted not having proper guidance during that phase of her career.

After appearing in Rajinikanth’s “Kuselan” (2008), Suja shifted her focus towards supporting roles and became actively involved with the Patali Makkal Katchi party. Director P. Vasu, who directed “Kuselan,” supported her transition and cast her in his subsequent films, including the Kannada horror-comedy “Aptharakshaka” (2010) and its Telugu remake, “Nagavalli” (2010). She continued to receive opportunities in the Telugu film industry, starring in films like “Gundello Godari” (2013) and “Doosukeltha” (2013). She also took on the lead role in the low-budget comedy film “Alibaba Okkade Donga” (2014).
