Biography:

Sivakumar Jayakumar is also known as Siva, a versatile filmmaker, started as a cinematographer. He found success in Telugu cinema, then moved to Tamil, directing hits like Siruthai, Veeram, and Viswasam. Talented in directing, screenwriting, and even song-writing, Siva continues to leave his mark on Tamil cinema.

Siva Son of film director, grandson of producer, descendant of Thanjavur Nayaks, brother of actor Bala, distant relative of musician Vishaka Hari.

Siva, a filmmaker born with a camera in his heart, started his journey in photography. He honed his skills, earning a gold medal at the M.G.R. Film Institute. He then embarked on a successful career as a cinematographer before making his directorial debut with the Telugu film ‘Souryam’ in 2008.

His passion for storytelling led him to Tamil cinema in 2011 with the blockbuster ‘Siruthai’, forever earning him the title of ‘Siruthai’ Siva. He collaborated with Ajith Kumar on several successful films, including ‘Veeram’, ‘Vedalam’, and the massive hit ‘Viswasam’, which stood strong against its box-office rival ‘Petta’.

However, his 2021 film ‘Annaatthe’ starring Rajinikanth met with mixed reviews. Despite this setback, Siva’s journey from photography to becoming a celebrated director in both Telugu and Tamil, with a string of blockbusters to his name, is a testament to his talent and unwavering dedication to the art of filmmaking. He continues to leave his mark on the industry, captivating audiences with his captivating stories and cinematic vision.
