Biography:

Renuka, a well-known Indian actress, gained fame for her portrayal of the lead character Premi in K. Balachander’s Tamil television series, which shared the same name. While primarily associated with the Tamil industry, she also ventured into Malayalam and a few Hindi films during her career.

Renuka’s journey into the entertainment world began against the backdrop of challenging circumstances. Her family hailing from Srirangam, she faced adversity following her father’s early demise, prompting her to relocate to Chennai in search of employment. Fortunately, she found a job as a drama artist with Komal Swaminathan’s theater troupe.

In her career, Renuka made her debut in Tamil cinema with the 1989 film “Samsara Sangeetham,” directed by T. Rajender. She later ventured into Malayalam cinema with “Kuttettan” in 1990. Notably, it was her association with Tamil film director K. Balachander, facilitated by her colleague Geetha, that propelled her into the spotlight. She took on both supporting and lead roles in various television series and films, earning recognition and acclaim for her performances. In her personal life, Renuka is the eldest daughter in her family and tied the knot with Aloha Kumaran, the chairman and managing director of Aloha India, in 1998.
