Biography:

Ranjini Jose, born on April 4, 1984, is a highly accomplished Indian playback singer known for her captivating renditions in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi languages. With a career spanning over two decades, she has left an indelible mark by lending her voice to over 200 films and showcasing her versatile talent in various cinematic ventures.

Born in Chennai to the illustrious film producer Babu Jose and the talented singer and bank employee C. K. Jayalakshmi, Ranjini’s early exposure to the world of music and cinema laid the foundation for her artistic journey. Her schooling took her to different institutions, including Sacred Heart Church Park in Chennai, MET Public School in Perumbavoor, and Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara. The nurturing environment of her school life, coupled with exposure to diverse musical influences, kindled her passion for the performing arts.

Ranjini’s artistic inclination found expression when she joined the renowned Cochin Chorus Troupe during her 9th grade. This early exposure provided her with invaluable experience and opportunities to perform alongside accomplished artists. Her journey took a significant turn when, in the 12th grade, she recorded her first song for the Malayalam film “Melevaryathe Malakhakkuttikal” alongside the legendary K. S. Chithra and Santosh Kesav.

Since that debut, Ranjini’s career soared as she showcased her vocal prowess across five languages, contributing to numerous films. She made notable debuts in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu cinema, expanding her reach and earning acclaim for her soulful renditions. Her acting skills also came to the forefront in Malayalam films like “Red Achilles,” “Drona,” and “Basheerinte Premalekhanam.”

In November 2017, Ranjini fulfilled a long-time dream by founding the five-piece band Eka, where she serves as the lead vocalist. Eka explores various genres, including Hindustani, Carnatic music, Folk music, Indian pop, and Rock music, showcasing Ranjini’s versatility and artistic vision. The name “Eka” reflects her spiritual beliefs, emphasizing the mantra “Ekam Eva advatheeyam,” signifying the existence of one ultimate power.
