M. N. Rajam, also known as Madurai Narasimha Achary Rajam, is a renowned Indian actress primarily active in the Tamil film industry. Her journey in the world of acting began at a very young age, as she made her stage debut when she was just seven years old. She took her initial steps in cinema as a child artist in 1949. At the age of 14, she portrayed the role of a vamp in the Tamil classic “Ratha Kanneer” (1954), where she acted alongside M. R. Radha. This marked the start of her career, and she went on to work with many leading actors in Tamil cinema, including MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, M. R. Radha, S.S. Rajendran, M. N. Nambiar, and N. S. Krishnan.
In 1960, M. N. Rajam tied the knot with the popular Tamil playback singer A. L. Raghavan. Throughout her career, she delivered remarkable performances in films like “Rathak Kaneer,” “Pennin Perumai,” “Pudhayal,” “Thanga Padumai,” “Nadodi Mannan,” “Pasa Malar,” “Thaali Bhagyam,” and “Arangetram,” earning critical acclaim for her acting prowess. From the 1970s to the 1990s, she transitioned to playing supporting roles in films. Later, in 1995, she ventured into television serials and continued her work in films until 2014, showcasing her enduring dedication to the entertainment industry.
