The producer of movies like Goondarajyam, Twotown Rowdy, Pavitrabandham, Pelli Cheswe, and Chakra, Chamarthi Venkataraju (C.Venkataraju), is no longer alive. He passed away on Sunday in Chennai from his illness. He was born to Chamarthi Naraparaju and Venkatamma in the Chittoor district hamlet of Siddiraju Kandriga on May 25, 1948. Together with Guntumadugu Sivaraju (G.Sivaraju), a native of Siddiraju’s Kandriga village, Venkataraju founded the Sri Vijayalakshmi Arts Productions banner.
In his debut movie, Goondarajyam (1989), Krishna played the lead role. Following that, he created movies like “Twotown Rowdy,” “Nimantha,” “Ahamkari,” and “Adarsam.” After that, the pair founded Geetha Chitra International and produced a number of financially successful movies, including Lady Boss, Pavitrabandham, Pelli Cheseguna, Srimati Choosta, Bralo, and Chakra.
The movie “Pavitrabandham” received the Golden Nandi award from the combined Andhra Pradesh government for being the finest movie. Along with many other film stars, the “Telugu Film Producers Council” expressed condolences on C. Venkataraju’s passing. Today in Chennai, there will be his final rituals.
