Indraneil Sengupta is an Indian actor and model who has been based in Kolkata since 2004. He gained recognition as a finalist in the 1999 Gladrags Manhunt Contest, where John Abraham emerged as the winner. His modeling career included work with designer Rohit Bal and choreographers Marc Robinson and Achala Sachdev. Sengupta also appeared in commercials for brands like Tata Indigo Marina, VIP Frenchie, and Aquafina.
Transitioning into music videos, he featured in Falguni Pathak’s “Pal Pal Tere Yaad Sataye,” Jagjit Singh’s video, one for the Hindi album of South Indian singer Yesudas, and a remix of Asha Bhosle’s “Koi Diya Jale Kahin (Rum Pum Bum)” from the movie “Bees Saal Baad.” He ventured into television with Star Plus’s show “Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam.”
His film debut was in 2004 with “Shukriya: Till Death Do Us Apart,” which also starred Aftab Shivdasani, Shriya Saran, and Anupam Kher. Although he was set to appear in the movie “Dus,” the project was shelved.
In 2008, he played the negative role of Mohan Kanta in the horror film “1920” and starred as Tushar in Zee TV’s serial “Banoo Main Teri Dulhan.” He participated in Nach Baliye 3 with his wife and appeared in Bollywood films like “Mumbai Salsa” and “Kahaani,” as well as several Bengali films.
In 2008, he starred in the Bengali film “Janala,” directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta. In 2009, he appeared in “Angshumaner Chhobi” opposite Indrani Haldar, and in “Arekti Premer Golpo” as a bisexual lover. He won the Anandalok Fresh Face of the Year (male) award in 2009 for his role in “Anshumaner Chobi.”
In “Autograph,” he played a young aspiring director alongside Prasenjit Chatterjee and Nandana Sen, a film that pays tribute to Satyajit Ray and Uttam Kumar’s film “Nayak.”
He continued his career with roles in Bengali films like “Aparajita Tumi” in 2012, where he played a young Bangladeshi professor, and the Hindi film “Kahaani.” He also appeared in the Bangladeshi film “Chorabali.”
In 2013, he starred in “Goyenda Gogol,” and in “Teen Patti,” a Bengali film directed by Jenny Sarkar and Dipayan Mandal.
