Rajakumaran

Director
Born : 01/01/1987
Birth Place : Santhipalayam, Anthiyur, Erode, Tamil Nadu, India
Spouse : Devayani

Biography:

Indian filmmaker Rajakumaran has helmed Tamil cinema. He has worked with actress Devayani on all of his films; they are married. Rajakumaran, a director Vikraman’s assistant, made his feature film debut with R. B. Choudary’s romantic comedy Nee Varuvai Ena.

Positive reviews and economic success were enjoyed by the Parthiban and Devayani film, which one critic from Indolink.com called “a film definitely worth watching” and said “it is bound to touch your heart and make you wonder about the power of love.”

An Indian Express reviewer stated, “The storyline is nearly invariably predictable and occasionally even descends into outright nonsense. However, the director does it all with such a straight face that you can’t help but take it all in.”

Rajakumaran, the film’s storyteller, went on to win the Tamil Nadu State Film Award. After taking a short break to concentrate on another project named Devathai Vanthuvittaal, he started and abandoned the film Aanavam, which was supposed to star Sathyaraj, Khushbu, and Roja.

Following the triumph of his debut picture, R. B. Choudary offered Rajakumaran another opportunity to direct a movie under his production company. With Vikram, Devayani, Sarathkumar, and Khushbu in the ensemble cast, the project was named Vinnukkum Mannukkum.

Vikram expressed his disgust at being involved in the film’s production during its development, saying that “everything in that film, right from the first shot was wrong” and that he and the director argued over each and every shot.

Additionally, Rajakumaran did not make use of Sarathkumar’s call sheets, which resulted in a delay in wrapping up the shooting, which took more than a year to complete.

A reviewer for The Hindu observed that “director Rajakumaran has taken special care in the choice of songs and locations to make the film entertaining,” despite the film’s mixed reviews.

He ought to have given the first half more thought, and more importantly, he ought to have made Vikram—who has potential—and Devayani—for whom it’s an easy task—work harder.

His next decision was to produce and direct the 2003 movie Kadhaludan, which starred Murali in the title character. The movie received mixed reviews; one reviewer from Sify called it boring and said, “the plot is idiotic, as director Rajakumaran has tried to rehash his earlier film Nee Varuvai Ena.”

The film is a nice family story, according to another review from The Hindu, which also noted that “the screenplay is hampered mainly by lengthy, meandering dialogue that proves tiresome” Rajakumaran took a hiatus from making movies as a result of the movies’ failure, and he also briefly worked as a distributor.

In February 2008, he and his spouse started a new drama called Thirumathi Thamizh, in which Rajakumaran played the main character and Devayani starred opposite him. After much waiting, the movie debuted in April 2013 to acclaim.

In April 2001, he wed actress Devayani in a covert ceremony at Thiruthani Murugan Temple. While filming his first two movies, the couple fell in love They are parents to two kids, Priyanka and Iniya.
