Lokesh Kanagaraj

Biography:

Lokesh Kanagaraj was born in India’s Tamil Nadu province’s Kinathukadavu, Coimbatore district. Prior to earning an MBA, he majored in Fashion Technology at PSG College of Arts and Sciences. He attended Palanayiammal Matric High School in Kalliyapuram, Pollachi, for his education. He worked for a bank previously. He participated in a corporate short film competition to further his interest in filmmaking. Karthik Subbaraj served as the competition’s judge. He urged Lokesh to pursue a filmmaking career after being impressed with his short film.

In 2016, Lokesh Kanagaraj, an Indian director who predominantly works in the Tamil cinema business, made his directorial debut with the anthology movie Aviyal. He was born in Tamil Nadu, India’s Kinathukadavu, Coimbatore. Before deciding to pursue an MBA, he majored in fashion technology. He has worked in a bank before. By taking part in a corporate short film competition, he explored his passion for filmmaking. The competition’s judge was the director Karthik Subbaraj. Then he urged Lokesh to keep making films.

Later, he was the director of the Kamal Hassan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil film Vikram (2022). As a result of the film’s enormous popularity, he is actively developing the Lokesh Cinematic Universe by continuing Kaithi and Vikram’s tale. Leo, Vijay’s 67th movie, will be his next project after Vikram and will continue the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. According to the production crew, Lokesh and Vijay will both be seeing Leo for the first time in an English-dubbed theatrical release. He will also direct Thalaivar 171, Kaithi 2 (the sequel to Kaithi), and Vikram 2 (the follow-up to Vikram). After completing at least 10 films, Lokesh said in 2023 that he would end his director career.
