Madhu, a low-budget movie that was part of the Bench Talkies anthology, was Kumar’s first motion picture. Meyaadha Maan (2017) is the feature film he later made from the short. Since it wasn’t a multistarrer and several of Vaibhav’s previous films had only been multistarrers, the movie ended up being a success and a significant part of his career. He later directed the 2019 film Aadai, which starred Amala Paul. Despite receiving poor reviews upon its release, the movie brought attention to a significant social issue.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Master signed Kumar as a co-writer. Kanagaraj is a friend of Kumar’s, who told The Times of India about his choice to switch from being a filmmaker to a writer. Kumar and Lokesh resumed their collaboration as co-writers for Vijay’s 67th film, provisionally named Leo, which co-stars Trisha, Janany, Azeem, and Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist.
