Manish Borundia

Biography:

Manish Borundia, an Indian actor and model, has had a versatile career in the entertainment industry, spanning Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada films. With experience in both lead and supporting roles, he has also made a name for himself in the world of advertising, having participated in around 95 ad campaigns and serving as a brand ambassador for Sprite. Manish has ventured into music albums as well, gaining popularity for his work in a Malayalam music album.

Born and raised in Chennai, Manish initially embarked on a modeling career while simultaneously managing his father’s business. During this time, he crossed paths with renowned actor Ajith Kumar, and their friendship led to his first on-screen appearance. Ajith offered Manish a minor acting role in “Amarkalam” (1999) when the original actor failed to show up, marking the beginning of his acting journey. Throughout the early 2000s, Manish continued to play supporting roles in Tamil films, often portraying the lead actor’s friends in notable movies like “Kushi” (2000), “Parthen Rasithen” (2000), “Minnale” (2001), and “12B” (2001).

While pursuing his acting career, Manish faced challenges, including language barriers, such as his strong Hindi accent affecting his role in “Vaanam Vasappadum” (2004). Despite these obstacles, he ventured into Kannada cinema with the film “Jootata” (2005) and took on the stage name Akash. However, the film did not achieve commercial success, and Manish’s career faced more setbacks.

Eventually, he temporarily shifted away from the entertainment industry, working in Hong Kong before returning to Bengaluru to oversee his family’s jewelry business. In 2019, he made a comeback with a supporting role in the Hindi film “Mission Mangal,” featuring alongside Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. The film portrayed the lives of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) involved in the Mars Orbiter Mission.
