Biography:

Pradeep Kottayam, professionally known as Pradeep K. R., was a renowned Indian actor known for his comedic roles in Malayalam and Tamil films. He made his acting debut in 2001 with the movie “Ee Naadu Innale Vare,” directed by I. V. Sasi. Initially starting as a junior artist, he appeared in non-speaking and uncredited roles. However, his breakthrough came in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Tamil film “Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa,” where his portrayal of the heroine’s uncle gained widespread attention, especially for a memorable dialogue.

Throughout his career, Pradeep Kottayam appeared in numerous films, including “Rajamanikyam,” “2 Harihar Nagar,” “Aadu Oru Bheegara Jeevi Aanu,” “Oru Vadakkan Selfie,” “Life of Josutty,” “Kunjiramayanam,” “Welcome to Central Jail,” “Amar Akbar Antony,” “Adi Kapyare Kootamani,” and “Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan.” He was known for his unique style of delivering dialogues and predominantly played comedy, supporting, and cameo roles. His exceptional talent earned him the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2nd Asianet Comedy Awards in 2016.

Outside of his acting career, Pradeep was married to Maya, and they had two children together. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 61 due to a heart attack at a private hospital in Kottayam on 17 February 2022. His last film appearance was in “Aaraattu,” starring Mohanlal and directed by B. Unnikrishnan. Pradeep Kottayam’s comedic prowess and memorable performances have left a lasting impact on the film industry, and he is fondly remembered by fans and colleagues alike.
