Actor Potti Prasad, whose real name was Kavivarapu Prasada Rao, was primarily employed in Telugu films. Jandhyala introduced him to movies. Among his noteworthy performances are those in Sagara Sangamam and Chantabbai.
In a brief cameo as one of Girija’s two potential bridegrooms (the other being Padmanabham), he made his cinematic debut with Appu Chesi Pappu Koodu. The generosity of Nagi Reddi and Chakrapani, who paid him Rs. 1116/-for just one scene, really overwhelmed him. He was Raja Babu’s pal, another comic.
They performed together in theater productions. The 1992 movie Brundavanam was his last. Prior to appearing in motion pictures, Prasad performed on stage. Appu Chesi Pappu Koodu (1959) was his acting debut.
After seeing him act in a Madras stage production, Chakrapani gave him a part in this movie. He kept performing in theater productions while pursuing parts in motion pictures.
In the comedy Chantabbai, starring Charanjeevi, he was an editor of a weekly magazine. This made him well-liked by the crowd. He was a domestic helper in the critically acclaimed movie Sagara Sangamam.
He portrayed an Avadhani who goes insane after hearing his student say hurtful things in the movie Hai Hai Nayaka. In Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film Babai Abbai, he portrays a detective. Brundavanam, starring Rajendra Prasad, was his last motion picture.
