Biography:

Karan, born on 19th August 1969, is a former Indian actor known for his work primarily in Tamil and Malayalam cinema. He initiated his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor, adopting the stage name Master Raghu. During the 1990s, he transitioned into portraying lead and antagonist roles.

However, in the mid-2000s, after a brief hiatus, Karan made a deliberate choice to focus on roles where he would take on the lead character, a decision influenced by the moderate success of his film “Kokki” in 2006. Commencing his career as a child artist under the moniker Master Raghu, Karan featured in over 70 films in both Malayalam and Tamil languages.

His debut in Tamil cinema as an adult came in 1992 with an uncredited role in “Annamalai,” alongside the legendary Rajinikanth. However, he garnered recognition for his portrayal of a rebellious college student in “Nammavar,” where he shared the screen with Kamal Haasan. Karan’s solo hero journey commenced in 2006 with the film “Kokki,” and he continued to build his career with movies like “Karuppusamy Kuththagaithaarar” and “Kathavarayan”.

His more recent works include “Sooran” in 2014 and “Uchathula Shiva” in 2016. In 2018, a clip from his film “Coimbatore Mappillai” went viral on the internet, leading to the association of the word “Shroov” with the actor among online users. Karan also made his debut in the advertising world through a 45-second Mahindra Duro advertisement, where he appeared alongside Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor.
