At an early stage of her career Jayaprada was first offered a 3 minute dance in a Telugu film named Bhoomi Kosam after a film director saw her performing in her school annual day and was paid 10rs for the 3 min act. And in 1977, she starred in Adavi Ramudu, which broke box office records and which permanently cemented her star status. The song “Aresukoboyi Paresukunnanu” performed by Prada and co-star N.T.Ramarao became a massive hit which is still popular to this date. She acted in the highest number of films with actor Krishna.She made her bollywood debut in the year 1979 with the film Sargam which is a remake of Telugu film Siri Siri Muvva. The film was a massive hit in the Bollywood industry earning her a nomination in the Filmfare awards. She later worked with many present day top stars like Kamal haasan and Chiranjeevi in south and Amitabh bachchan in bollywood who is also her favorite actor.
After her film career Jaya prada started her career in politics with her first political party Telugu desam party (TDP) in the year 1994 at the invitation of the founder of the party N.T Ramarao. After a series of joining other political parties Jaya prada settled in Bharatiya Janata Party(B.J.P) as of 2019.
