From 2009 until 2024, Chloe Rebecca Smith, a member of the British Conservative Party, represented Norwich North as an MP. She was born on May 17, 1982. Prior to this, she was Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Technology from April to July 2023 and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from September to October 2022.
Following Labour MP Ian Gibson’s resignation over the MPs’ expenses scandal, Smith won a by-election in 2009. Smith served two terms as Parliamentary Secretary for the Constitution and held many junior ministerial positions under David Cameron and Theresa May. After Boris Johnson won the 2019 Conservative Party leadership election, she remained in the latter position.
