Biography:
Bhupinder Singh, born Bhupinder Soin in Amritsar, Punjab, emerged as a prominent Indian musician celebrated for his prowess in ghazal and Bollywood playback singing. His father, Natha Singhji, himself a musician, initially introduced Bhupinder to the world of music.
Beginning as an artist at All India Radio under Satish Bhatia’s guidance, Bhupinder honed his skills, even working at Doordarshan Center in New Delhi. His musical journey took flight when acclaimed music director Madan Mohan discovered him at a dinner hosted by Satish Bhatia and invited him to Bombay. This paved the way for his debut song, “Hoke Majboor Mujhe Usne Bulaya Hoga,” alongside stalwarts like Mohammed Rafi, Talat Mahmood, and Manna Dey in Chetan Anand’s film “Haqeeqat.”
Renowned for his distinctive voice in playback singing, Bhupinder’s career spanned memorable duets with Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi. He ventured into private albums, infusing his compositions with a unique blend of ghazal and the Spanish guitar, bass, and drums.
