Biography:

Pandu Babu and Ragamali welcomed Bhanupriya into the world on January 15, 1967, in the Telugu-speaking village of Rangampeta, Andhra Pradesh, close to Rajahmundry. She went by the name Mangabhanu. Later on, her family relocated to Chennai in Tamil Nadu. She has two siblings, a younger sister named Shantipriya who has worked as a film actor since the 1990s and an older brother named Gopikrishana.

Film Career:
Between 1983 and 1995, she was a top actress in the general audience. Mella Pesungal, a 1983 Tamil film, marked her acting debut. She later made an appearance in the Telugu smash Sitaara, which took home the National Film Award for the year’s best Telugu feature film. Following that, she portrayed an ornithologist in the 1985 thriller Anveshana. With Dosti Dushmani, she made her Hindi cinema debut in 1986. She starred in Swarnakamalam in 1988, which was shown at the Ann Arbour Film Festival and the Indian Panorama portion of the 1988 International Film Festival of India.

For her work in the movie, Bhanupriya won the Indian Express Award for Best Actress, the Nandi Award for Best Actress, and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu. Her roles in the Tamil blockbusters Aararo Aariraro and Azhagan earned her the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prizes in 1989 and 1991, respectively. She was honoured with several awards, including the Gemini TV Puraskaram for lifetime achievement in television and the JFW Divas of South India Award for her contribution to South Indian film.
