Barry Ackroyd is an English director and cinematographer who was born on May 12, 1954. Ackroyd has collaborated with directors Paul Greengrass and Ken Loach on numerous occasions. He collaborated with Greengrass on the highly regarded 2013 historical drama Captain Phillips and Kathryn Bigelow’s 2008 war movie The Hurt Locker, the latter of which earned him a BAFTA Award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography. In 2014, the British Society of Cinematographers elected Ackroyd as its president.
