Ashfaque Nipun

Biography:

Ashfaque Nipun is a Bangladeshi film director, screenwriter, and actor who has done most of his work in television and digital entertainment. His career began after he participated in a film-making workshop held by Anisul Haque and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki at the Chittagong Film Centre in 2002. He then moved to Dhaka to become the assistant director under the supervision of Farooki. He directed his first television drama series 2 in 1 in 2006 and also acted in it. Since then, he has worked as the director for several highly praised television dramas and telefilms such as Mukim Brothers (2010), Ei Shohore (2019), Victim (2020), and Koshtoneer (2021).

Ashfaque gained international fame after directing Hoichoi’s much-appreciated crime thriller Mohanagar in 2021. Following that success, he has made more films on Hoichoi – namely Sabrina (2022), Mohanagar 2 (2023), and Jimmi (2025) – writing and directing all these movies. Particularly, the Mohanagar movie received huge acclaim for its interesting story, accurate representation of law enforcement agencies and intricate characters, for which Nipun has been rewarded with the Best Director Award at Hoichoi Awards, Meril-Prothom Alo Awards, Channel i Digital Media Awards, and The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards.
