Amole Gupte

Biography:

Amole Gupte, is an Indian screenwriter, actor, singer, and director primarily working in the Hindi film industry. He is best known for his work on the 2007 Bollywood film “Taare Zameen Par” as the creative director and screenwriter.

He was initially set to direct “Taare Zameen Par” but after shooting a few portions, Aamir Khan took over the direction, and Gupte was credited as the Creative Director and Screenwriter. He developed the film in collaboration with his wife, Deepa Bhatia, who contributed to the concept, research, and editing.

A passionate children’s activist, Gupte has frequently criticized the negative effects of children’s reality shows on participants’ minds. Consequently, he served as the chairperson of the Children’s Film Society, India, from 2012 to 2015, and is currently a member of the advisory board for the Kautik International Student Film Festival.

His other notable works include “Stanley Ka Dabba,” “Hawaa Hawaai,” “Kaminey,” and more. As an actor, he has appeared in “Bheja Fry 2” (2011), “Stanley Ka Dabba” (2011), “Urumi” (2011), “Phas Gaye Re Obama” (2010), and “Kaminey.”

His directorial debut, “Stanley Ka Dabba” (2011), which starred his son Partho Gupte, was a significant commercial and critical success. Made on a modest budget, the film earned over 4 crores in its first two weeks and won Partho Gupte the National Award for Best Child Artist.
