Alphonsa is an Indian actress renowned for her work in South Indian cinema, primarily in item numbers, supporting roles, and cameo appearances. In her career, she played a supporting role in K. S. Ravikumar’s film “Panchathanthiram” (2002), sharing the screen with Kamal Haasan in a few scenes. She also appeared in “Kadhal Sadugudu” (2003) opposite Vikram, where her performance was characterized as provocative.
Born in Tamil Nadu, Alphonsa has a younger brother named Robert, who is a choreographer and has also dabbled in acting. She defied her family’s wishes when she married Nazeer, her co-star in “Parvu Mazhai,” in 2001. Alphonsa’s personal life took a tragic turn when she lived in a live-in relationship with an aspiring actor named Vinod for two years.
In 2012, Vinod sadly took his own life, leading to suspicions surrounding Alphonsa’s involvement. In March of the same year, Alphonsa also attempted suicide by consuming an excessive amount of sleeping pills but was fortunately saved. She vehemently denied any wrongdoing, explaining that Vinod had been struggling to make it in the film industry for several years and had become deeply depressed, ultimately leading to his tragic decision to end his life.
