Indian film editor Aarti Bajaj specializes in Bollywood productions. For her efforts, she has received multiple accolades. She has edited highly regarded films like Jab We Met, among others. Aarti Bajaj started editing the unreleased movie Paanch, directed by Anurag Kashyap. She followed it up with his highly regarded and contentious picture Black Friday, for which she received a 2008 Star Screen Award nomination. She also edited Rajkumar Gupta’s Aamir, for which she received a second Star Screen Award nomination, Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met, Rockstar, Tamasha, Highway, and Reema Kagti’s Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Bajaj explains how she chooses the movie she wants to work on in the same piece. It’s accurate to say that a large number of her films deviate from the typical Bollywood production. In an interview with The Hindu, she responds, “I like mainstream Bollywood, but I’m not sure if I can edit them.” Why use the same formula over and over again? What are you anticipating? I’m certain I’ll go unconscious. In addition, she says, “I like quirky, I like different.” She goes on to emphasise the importance of mental stimulation and how every project she does must present to her some sort of challenge.
