Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam, born on November 5, 1988, is a multifaceted Indian talent involved in Telugu cinema. His diverse roles include that of a film director, writer, actor, and television presenter. He gained recognition for directing the critically acclaimed romantic comedy “Pelli Choopulu” in 2016, a film that not only earned him the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu but also the accolade for Best Screenplay – Dialogues.
Born in Madras and raised in Hyderabad, Tharun Bhascker has a rich cultural background. His father hailed from Warangal, Telangana, while his mother is from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. His educational journey took him through institutions like Hyderabad Public School and Swami Vivekananda Institute of Technology. He later pursued his passion for filmmaking by graduating from the New York Film Academy.
In 2015, Tharun Bhascker faced the loss of his father, Uday Bhaskar. Interestingly, his mother, Geetha Bhaskar, made her acting debut in Sekhar Kammula’s film “Fidaa” in 2017.Bhascker embarked on his career by creating short films, including notable works like “Anukokunda” and “Sainma.” “Anukokunda” even had the distinction of being screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
His breakthrough into the world of full-length feature films came with “Pelli Choopulu” in 2016. This movie received widespread acclaim and was awarded the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. In 2018, Bhascker took on the role of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao in the biopic “Mahanati.” His second directorial venture was the buddy comedy film “Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi” in the same year. Additionally, he contributed to the Zee5 web series “B. Tech” as a screenwriter.In 2019, Tharun Bhaskar made his debut as a lead actor in the film “Meeku Maathrame Cheptha.”
