OTT“Anger Tales” is a captivating anthology comprising four distinct narratives, each centered around individuals grappling with the pervasive emotion of anger, ultimately opting for revolt as their final recourse. Director Prabhala Tilak skillfully weaves the tales of a fervent actor’s fan, constrained housewives navigating restrictive lives, and a young man grappling with premature balding.
In effectively portraying the characters’ struggles, the creators of the series adeptly elicit empathy from the audience. While shedding light on the various challenges faced by these individuals in their everyday lives, the web series, though undeniably relevant and thought-provoking, falls short in delivering an entertainment quotient. Instead of providing a more palatable experience, “Anger Tales” presents a raw and bitter slice of life, offering a profound exploration of the complexities surrounding anger and revolt.
Benefit Show:
In the narrative led by Ranga (portrayed by Venkatesh Maha), the president of a fan association dedicated to a popular actor, an intriguing plot unfolds. Ranga takes the initiative to organize a benefit show for his beloved star’s latest movie. However, complications arise when Sreenu (played by Suhas), a local leader, acquires two hundred tickets to assert his influence among his followers. The situation intensifies when the access code for the show faces delays, leading to chaos that jeopardizes Ranga’s reputation and self-respect.
This storyline offers a glimpse into the fervor and madness of fan culture during major movie releases, illustrating its impact on various individuals. Venkatesh Maha and Suhas deliver compelling performances, breathing life into their characters with impressive skill. It’s worth noting that this episode contains slang language, adding a realistic touch to the narrative.
Food Festival:
Pooja Reddy, portrayed by Madonna Sebastian, undergoes a significant lifestyle shift from being a non-vegetarian to embracing a vegetarian diet after marrying Rajeev (played by Tharun Bhascker) and residing in a community with a distinct ideology. Her challenges resurface when a doctor recommends incorporating eggs into her diet to combat weakness. The narrative vividly explores how seemingly mundane decisions, such as dietary choices, can profoundly influence one’s quality of life. Madonna Sebastian and Tharun Bhascker deliver commendable performances in their roles as husband and wife, adding depth to the storyline.
An Afternoon Nap:
Radha, played by Bindu Madhavi, leads a monotonous life with her husband (Ravindra Vijay) in a run-down house plagued by an exasperating landlord. Radha’s daily challenges, coupled with debilitating migraine episodes, contribute to her overall misery. While her quest for solace is compelling, at times, the narrative tends to stretch her struggle. The story takes an unexpected turn when Radha’s anger surpasses her limits, leading to actions that feel somewhat out of place in the context of seeking revenge. Nevertheless, Bindu Madhavi and Ravindra Vijay deliver convincing portrayals of their characters, adding depth to the storyline.
Helmet Head:
Giridhar, portrayed by Phani Acharya, grapples with a string of misfortunes, particularly his baldness and the absence of employment, leading to a deep sense of frustration and discontent. Just when he discovers a potential solution, the root cause of his problems disrupts his newfound peace, prompting him to take a stand and revolt. Phani Acharya immerses himself in the character, delivering a performance that is both authentic and uninhibited.
