Indian film producer, screenwriter, and director Penmetsa Ramesh Varma specializes in Telugu cinema.
Following in the footsteps of his father P. Prasad Raju, who was then employed as a sketching artist at Eenadu Colorama, Ramoji Film City, Varma graduated with a B.Com. from Osmania University and started a career as a publicity designer. Varma was born in Bhimavaram, in the West Godavari region of Andhra Pradesh.
Following graduating in 1998, he started his own company called “Kiran Poster Ads” and created poster ads for his first movie, Preminchukundam Raa. Along with Robot, Narasimhanaidu, Tagore, Jalsa, and Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahein from Bollywood, he also worked as a publicity designer for those movies.
Tarun starred in Varma’s 2005 film Oka Oorilo, which he also directed. Ride (2009), Veera (2011), starring Ravi Teja, and Abbayitho Ammayi (2016) were his next movies to direct. He wrote the screenplay for the 2019 thriller Rakshasudu by Bellamkonda Srinivas and the 2019 suspense film 7 by Havish Koneru.
In addition, he wrote the script for the movie Mallepuvvu and produced the movies Jaffa (2013) and Seven (2019).
