Naveen Polishetty

Biography:

Naveen Polishetty, an Indian actor and screenwriter, works in Telugu and Hindi films. He debuted as a lead in the movie “Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya” (2019), earning him the Zee Cine Awards Telugu for Best Find of the Year. He also appeared in the Hindi film “Chhichhore” (2019). In 2021, he starred in the successful comedy film “Jathi Ratnalu.”

Born into a middle-class family in Hyderabad, India, Polishetty’s father is in the pharmaceutical business, and his mother is a bank employee. He has an elder twin brother and sister who settled in the United States. After graduating in Civil Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, he worked at a software firm in Pune before moving to England. However, he wasn’t satisfied with his job, so he returned to India without informing his parents. In Mumbai, he rented a house, took part-time jobs, and pursued a full-time acting career. He began his journey in theatre and performed in various plays.

Polishetty’s debut in Telugu cinema was with the film “Life Is Beautiful” (2012). He also had a minor role in Mahesh Babu’s “1: Nenokkadine” (2014). As some of his subsequent Telugu projects faced delays or casting changes, Polishetty shifted his focus to theatre and stand-up comedy. He gained attention for his work in YouTube skits with All India Bakchod, particularly for portraying an “average” guy in “Honest Engineering Campus Placements.”

In 2019, Polishetty returned to Telugu cinema with the comedy thriller “Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya,” which he co-wrote and played the lead role in. The film garnered him the Zee Cine Awards Telugu for Best Film of the Year. He then debuted his Hindi cinema in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Chhichhore,” both performed well at the box office. In 2021, he starred in the comedy film “Jathi Ratnalu,” which emerged as his biggest success, grossing ₹70 crore. He received acclaim for his portrayal of Jogipet Srikanth, a charming everyman. He has also signed a film alongside Anushka Shetty and will reprise his role in the sequel to “Jathi Ratnalu.”
