Prime VideoPoacher is a Malayalam-language crime drama miniseries created by Richie Mehta. Featuring Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Ankith Madhav, Kani Kusruti, Ranjitha Menon, and Maala Parvathi, the series delves into the issue of ivory poaching in India.
Set in 2015, Poacher is based on true events of ivory poaching in the forest divisions of Malayattoor, Vazhachal, and Munnar in Kerala. The series highlights the involvement of transnational crime syndicates, including the Triad and Yakuza, and the subsequent government crackdown known as Operation Shikkar.
The first three episodes premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, and the full series was released on Amazon Prime Video on February 23, 2024, earning positive reviews from critics.
