Story:

Varisu is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action-drama film directed by Vamshi Paidipally, who co-wrote with Hari and Ashishor Solomon. Co-produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema, the film stars an ensemble cast that includes Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, R. Sarathkumar, Shaam, Srikanth, Prabhu, Jayasudha, Prakash Raj, Ganesh Venkatraman, Sangeetha Krish, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Mime Gopi, Nandini Rai and Suman. It focuses on the youngest son of a businessman, who is appointed president of his father’s company, much to the chagrin of his two older brothers.

The film was announced in September 2021 as Thalapathy 66, as it is Vijay’s 66th film in the lead role. Principal photography began in April 2022 and ended in December. Film was shot mainly in Chennai and Hyderabad, with sporadic shooting in Visakhapatnam, Ballari and Ladakh. The music was composed by Thaman S, the cinematography by Karthik Palani and the editing by Praveen KL. The film was leaked during production, despite the producer’s efforts to stop them. Varisu was released in theaters worldwide on January 11, 2023, during Pongal Week, to mixed reviews from critics. The film has grossed around ₹290-310 crore at the box office, now becoming the fourth highest grossing Indian film in 2023, one of the highest grossing Tamil films in the world as well as the highest grossing film. highest in Vijay’s career.
