Theatre“Uunchai” is an adventure drama film in Hindi directed by Sooraj Barjatya, with a screenplay by Abhishek Dixit based on an original story by Sunil Gandhi. Produced jointly by Rajshri Productions, Boundless Media, and Mahaveer Jain Films, it marks the 60th film produced by Rajshri.
The ensemble cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, and Sarika. The music is composed by Amit Trivedi, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, and the film score by George Joseph.
The storyline follows three retired friends embarking on a trek to the Everest Base Camp to fulfill their dying friend’s final wish, leading them to discover the true essence of freedom and life.
At the 68th Filmfare Awards, “Uunchai” garnered 7 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director (Barjatya), Best Actor (Bachchan), and Best Supporting Actor (Kher).
The theatrical release of “Uunchai” was on 11 November 2022, earning ₹48.99 crore worldwide. Subsequently, the film was digitally released on the OTT platform ZEE5 on 6 January 2023.
