Story:

C. H. Subba Reddy directed the romantic action comedy Rough in Telugu in 2014. Key parts are played by Aadi, Rakul Preet Singh, and Srihari in the film, which is produced by M. Abilash under the Sridevi Entertainments banner. Mani Sharma wrote the song’s melody.

Actor Srihari passed away prior to the movie’s premiere. Critics gave the movie varying reviews, and it did ok at the box office. The same title was used for the Hindi dubbing.

Plot
In a quaint Telugu village nestled amidst lush greenery, the story begins with a young, passionate artist named Arjun. Arjun’s dream is to revitalize his dying ancestral art form, Kalamkari, which is on the brink of extinction due to modernization.

He struggles against societal pressures and economic challenges to keep the tradition alive. Amidst this, he falls in love with Meera, a spirited girl from the city, who initially scoffs at his old-fashioned ideals but eventually becomes his biggest supporter.

Trouble brews when a corrupt politician, Ramachandra, eyes the village land for a lucrative real estate project. Arjun rallies the villagers to fight against the politician’s greed, leading to intense conflicts.

Amidst this chaos, Arjun discovers an ancient manuscript that holds the secret to the village’s history and the significance of Kalamkari. The manuscript also reveals a prophecy that only the true protector of the art form can save the village from impending doom.

As tensions escalate, Arjun delves deeper into the art’s mystical roots, unlocking hidden powers and ancient techniques. He undergoes rigorous training, guided by a wise elder in the village who has kept the tradition alive for decades.

Meanwhile, Meera stands by his side, offering unwavering support despite the dangers. The climax unfolds during a grand festival where Arjun showcases the revitalized Kalamkari art form Ramachandra tries to sabotage the event, but Arjun’s newfound powers, coupled with the support of the villagers and Meera, thwart his plans.

In a breathtaking showdown, Arjun channels the art’s mystical energy to defeat Ramachandra and protect the village. The movie concludes with Arjun successfully rejuvenating Kalamkari, gaining recognition on a national level, and preserving the village’s heritage.

The once-dying art form now thrives, serving as a testament to the power of tradition, community, and unwavering determination. Arjun and Meera stand hand in hand, symbolizing not just their love but also the fusion of tradition and modernity.
