Pendulum

Story:

Rejin S. Babu made his directorial debut with the 2023 Indian mystery thriller Pendulum, which is written and directed in Malayalam. In the movie, Vijay Babu plays Dr. Mahesh Narayan, who goes on a one-day family vacation to investigate some odd occurrences. Neena Kurup, Ramesh Pisharody, Anumol, Prakash Bare, Indrans, and Shobi Thilakan all play important parts in the cast.

In Thrissur, principal photography started in January 2021. The cinematography and editing were done by Arun Damodaran and Sooraj E. S., and Jean P. Johnson created the soundtrack. Pendulum debuted on June 16, 2023, in theaters.

An unidentified man calls Angel when two kids, Amir and Angel, are conversing in a dream, and the dream abruptly stops. When Antony discovers Amir in the trunk of his vehicle years later in a warehouse, Alex Ichayan, the owner of the warehouse, promises Antony that he will get rid of Amir. When Antony discovers that Amir hasn’t left the truck the following day, Alex requests that Antony drop Amir off at his destination. Amir claims that while attending Kochu Thressia teacher’s class, he lost his memory, and he believes that someone will be struck by the vehicle en route.

Dr. Mahesh Narayan, his wife Shwetha, and their daughter Thanmayi currently relocate from Melbourne to Kerala. Mahesh is visited in the hospital by an elderly man who asks him to locate his son who has gone missing. Mahesh leads him to a psychiatrist because he believes he has a mental illness. Mahesh and his family take a day excursion to Marayur. Telling Shwetha that he has been there before and experiences a sense of déjà vu, he pulls over in front of a tea shop. The car becomes center locked after Thanmayi inadvertently places the key into the trunk. Mahesh and his family are invited to spend the day at the tea shop’s owner’s house.

Mahesh encounters the elderly man who paid him a visit in the hospital when he goes outside at night to make a call. He is struck by a truck as soon as he enters Amir and Angel’s dream. When Shwetha and the proprietor of the tea store wake up the following morning, they discover Mahesh comatose outdoors.

Shwetha confides in Dr. Shabnam about her worries, believing that Mahesh suffered a panic attack. Mahesh asks Dr. Jain Joseph about the elderly guy who came to see him. According to Jain, Mahesh was dozing off on his chair at the moment. The truck that struck Mahesh was demolished fifteen years ago, he finds out.

Mahesh learns about lucid dreaming from John Master, who also describes how Mahesh appeared as an unexpected visitor in a shared dream environment. John Master instructs him to locate the two youngsters that Mahesh told him about in his dream. Mahesh finds out more about Amir and Angel when he meets Kochu Thressia. She assists Mahesh in locating Angel, who is now employed as a librarian. When Mahesh describes his bizarre experiences, he claims to have been involved in Angel and Amir’s dream, which Angel believes to be a made-up tale.

John Master urges Mahesh to meet with Angel to talk about any dream signs that Amir may have given him since he believes that something occurred in between the two periods of Mahesh’s dream. Angel finds herself in a secluded area and is informed by Mahesh that she is in a dream when he asks her if she can recall any dream signals. Angel sees Mahesh there and recalls the day Amir revealed his dream indicators. After Amir’s father informs him that Angel was with someone, Angel and Mahesh abruptly awaken from their slumber. The following day, Mahesh relays to Angel what Amir said to her. John Master believes Angel is concealing something.

Benny, who worked with Angel’s father, Joseph, is introduced to Mahesh. Mahesh receives an old picture of Angel from her early years from Benny. In a dream, Mahesh urges Angel to relive her memories of her former bungalow. When Mahesh walks into the bungalow that has been restored, he discovers a painting of young Angel who is comatose. Then, in his first dream, he sees Amir conversing with Angel. Mahesh explains to John Master how he incited Angel to hurt Amir. Mahesh discovers that John Master is actually Amir, who informs him that they will soon meet and that the dream will soon come to an end. Mahesh experiences a time loop after waking up next to the tea shop.He meets Angel again and learns that she injured Amir because someone made her do it. Mahesh later arrives at the place told by Amir and sees his dead body being carried.
