OK Bangaram

Story:

OK Bangaram is a Telugu-language romantic drama film, originally Tamil but dubbed and simultaneously released in Telugu. Written, directed, and produced by Mani Ratnam. The film stars Nithya Menen and Dulquer Salmaan as a young couple in a live-in relationship in Mumbai.

The story follows Adi and Tara, who meet at a wedding and are immediately attracted to each other. Skeptical about marriage, they decide to live together, and their journey forms the core of the narrative. Prakash Raj and Leela Samson play supporting roles as an older couple, who are the younger couple’s landlords. The film is described as reflecting the modern urban mindset of India, addressing issues like marriage and traditional values.

The music for the film was composed by A. R. Rahman, with cinematography by P. C. Sreeram and editing by Sreekar Prasad. Before its release, the soundtrack received positive reviews, and the film’s social media promotion was also praised.

OK Bangaram premiered on 17 April 2015 same day as the tamil releaase of O Kadhal Kanmani and was met with positive reviews from critics and from telugu states, who lauded the performances of the lead actors and the film’s technical excellence. It became a major financial success at the box office, performing exceptionally well in Indian multiplexes and overseas. The film was later remade in Hindi as “Ok Jaanu” in 2017.
