Biography:

Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan, born on May 7, 1991, is an accomplished Indian actor known for his work in Tamil cinema and, to some extent, in Telugu films. Hailing from Coimbatore, he completed his schooling at Carmel Garden and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kumaraguru College of Technology. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Business Administration from PSG Institute of Management.

During his college days, Ashwin Kumar discovered his passion for acting, leading him to participate in auditions for films and TV series. He marked his television debut on Star Vijay with the serial “Office” and later played lead roles in serials such as “Rettai Vaal Kuruvi” (2015) and “Ninaikka Therintha Manamae” (2017). Additionally, he starred in the lead role in the Telugu remake of the popular Tamil serial “Saravanan Meenatchi” titled “Raja Rani” on Star Maa.

After the serial concluded, Ashwin Kumar ventured into short films like “Blink,” “Cinderella,” “3 Scenes of his love story,” and “Kadhal Ondru Kanden.” His film career began with a minor role in Mani Ratnam’s “O Kadhal Kanmani.” He made his Telugu debut in the anthology film “Meet Cute,” directed by debutante Deepthi Ghanta and produced by Nani under Wall Poster Cinema.

In subsequent films, he played the lead in Prabhu Solomon’s “Sembi,” alongside actors Kovai Sarala and Thambi Ramaiah. Ashwin Kumar also took on the lead role in the web series “Thanthu Vitten Ennai,” produced by Zee5. Notable appearances include the horror-thriller web series “Live Telecast” directed by Venkat Prabhu for Disney+ Hotstar.

Beyond acting, Ashwin Kumar is recognized for his roles in various music videos, including “Cloning Kadhal,” “Rhythm of Life” (Sony Music), “Shades of Kadhal,” “Kutty Pattas” (Sony Music), “Criminal Crush,” “Loner,” “Adipoli” (Think Music), “Baby Nee Sugar,” “Yaathi Yaathi” (Sony Music), and “Vaadi Vaadi” (Think Music). He has also lent his voice in the music audio “11:11 – Guru undu Bhayamillai,” composed by Ady Kriz.

In addition to his acting career, Ashwin Kumar has worked as a model in multiple TV commercials and print adverts for various brands. Notably, he serves as the brand ambassador for the Tamil pay television channel, Zee Thirai.
