Story:

Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi is the writer and director of the 2025 Tamil-language romantic comedy Kadhalikka Neramillai. Under Red Giant Movies, Udhayanidhi Stalin is the producer. Alongside Vinay Rai, Yogi Babu, T.J. Bhanu, and Lal, the film’s main actors are Ravi Mohan and Nithya Menen. The Switch, an American romantic comedy released in 2010, served as a loose inspiration.

Along with the official title, which was based on the 1964 movie of the same name, the movie was formally announced in November 2023. That same month, principal photography got underway. The majority of the filming took place in Chennai, and it was finished by late May 2024.  Gavemic U. Ary handled the film’s cinematography, Lawrence Kishore edited it, and A. R. Rahman composed the music.  Critics gave Kadhalikka Neramillai mixed to favorable reviews when movie debuted in theaters on January 14, 2025.

Architect Shriya, who lives in Chennai, married her partner, Karan, in 2017 against the desires of her traditional parents. She quickly learns about Karan’s adultery, nevertheless, and breaks up with him. With the help of her cousin Ashwini, Shriya, who aspires to become a mother, chooses to get IVF. Her mother disowns her as a result of their disagreement over this choice. In the meantime, model Nirupama and structural engineer Siddharth “Sid” are dating in Bengaluru. Sid and his friends Gowda and Sethuraman “Sethu” decide to freeze their sperm after a trying time at work. To remain anonymous, Sid uses the moniker P. James and gives false contact details.

The hospital makes a mistake and uses Sid’s sperm for IVF. Sid is unaware that Shriya is conceived with his sperm. Sid’s unwillingness to have children strains his relationship with Nirupama, and Shriya starts to wonder about P. James, her sperm donor. She finds the donor’s information with Ashwini’s assistance and makes her way to Bengaluru. Unaware of their relationship, Sid is impressed by Shriya at a presentation. Later, while looking for P. James, Shriya runs across Sid and his pals. Shriya immediately departs as they get near, heading back to Chennai. Shriya gives birth to a boy shortly after.

Sid encounters Shriya and her 8-year-old son Parthiv by chance when he travels to Chennai eight years later to land a deal for his business. Sid lives in the same apartment complex as Parthiv, her aunt, and Shriya. Unfortunately, Sid and Shriya are competing representatives for the same project. An irate youngster named Parthiv asks Shriya about his father on a regular basis. Sid helps save Parthiv when he goes lost after making a valiant effort to locate his father.

Sid and Parthiv have a close relationship, especially because they both love football. Former football fan Sid takes up coaching Parthiv. Vivek, Shriya’s neighbor, feels something for her, but she doesn’t feel the same way. As Sid, Shriya, and Parthiv travel to Bengaluru for a meeting, they become closer. Parthiv connects with Sid’s father as well.

Remarkably, Gowda brings Sid and Nirupama back together. Nirupama is now feeling guilty over leaving him. Reluctantly, Sid grants her desire to stay in his apartment and to resume their relationship. After Nirupama returns, Shriya feels possessive, but Nirupama quickly comes to understand that Sid’s heart is Shriya’s. Knowing this, Nirupama leaves Sid’s life with grace. Shriya incorrectly claims that Sid is destroying her quotation as Sid’s business announces their upcoming project victory.

But in reality, Sid had suggested Shriya’s comment, which led to his dismissal from the organization. During Parthiv’s football game, Shriya expresses regret for her miscommunication. In a polite reply, Sid thanks her for motivating him to leave his job and focus on his long-planned startup.

As they reconcile, Sid proposes to Shriya, and she happily accepts. Meanwhile, Sethu ties the knot with his partner and welcomes a child using his frozen sperm. Sethu reveals that the hospital had misplaced their sperm samples, but Sid’s sperm had already been used for Shriya’s IVF treatment. Finally, Sid, Shriya and Parthiv embark on a new journey together, unaware of the profound connection between them.
