Vanakkam Chennai was Kiruthiga’s directorial debut, which launched her career. Shiva and Priya Anand appeared in Udhayanidhi Stalin’s film. She directed the music video “Sadhayai Meeri” in February 2017, which depicts the suffering of transgender persons and was composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
Later, in 2018, she directed Kaali. In 2002, Kiruthiga wed Udhayanidhi Stalin; the two are parents to a son and a girl. Their son Inban has committed to the I-League football team NEROCA FC.
