Theatre“Drona,” a 2009 Indian Telugu-language action film directed by J. Karun Kumar and produced by D. S. Rao, features Nithiin and Priyamani in lead roles.
Kelly Dorjee, Mukesh Rishi, Sita, Sunil, and Raghubabu play supporting characters, with music composed by Anup Rubens. Originally released in 2009, the film was subsequently dubbed into Hindi and Malayalam as “Sarfira – The Power Man” and “Drona,” respectively.
Drona (Nithiin) is the sole son of Mukesh Rishi and Sita. His father, an honest and devoted police officer, raises him with love.
As a child, Drona playfully takes his father’s revolver, leading to a scolding and his subsequent decision to leave home. After two decades, he returns under the alias Chandu. A neighbor named Indu (Priyamani) admires Chandu, unaware of his true identity. However, she eventually discovers that Chandu is the long-lost boy, Drona.
The plot unravels the tragic events of Drona’s past – kidnapped along with friends, forced into a life of thievery, and compelled to kill police officers in self-defense during an escape attempt. Drona becomes an approver, cooperating with the authorities to expose the robbers and their mastermind.
The narrative reflects on the moral dilemmas faced by Drona, emphasizing his complex journey of redemption. Notably, Drona’s choices, including the regrettable incident involving a police helicopter, add layers to the character’s evolution as he seeks justice and closure.
