Chakkiligintha

Story:

Chandini Sreedharan and Sumanth Ashwin feature in the 2014 Indian Telugu film Chakkiligintha, which translates to “Tickle.” Vema Reddy, Sukumar’s former protégé and assistant, directed it.

Plot

Avantika, also known as Avi, and Adi attend the same college. Adi, a relationship expert, counsels lads to hold off on showing their women their love until they disclose their genuine emotions. Conversely, Avi discovers that Adi is the reason for the abrupt shift in the boys’ behavior and vows to win Adi over to her way. The key question  is if she was successful in her challenge and what Adi did on his end.

Adi has a novel idea: why should girls get to enjoy themselves more than boys? He gives his friends a lesson about how it should be the other way around—rather than them chasing around the girls. He markets his idea. It makes sense that the girls are shocked that the boys are ignoring them.

They are unhappy. Avi has an idea to refute any notion that Adi may have that has altered the boys’ personalities. The girls look up to Avi, and when her plans finally come to pass, the lads start acting like boys again—chasing after them and carrying out their orders.

Adi and Avi issue one another with a challenge. Adi will act as though Avi is his girlfriend, and Avi will regard him in a similar manner. Adi informs Avi that he will never, ever show her his love, despite Avi’s best efforts to get Adi to do so.

Even with her seeming intelligence, Avi is winning at every turn. And it occurs in front of everyone one day. Adi expresses his affection for Avi. He acknowledges the failure of his idea and the unfair expectation placed on guys that girls should be the first to show their affection.

Adi, though, seems shocked. Avi informs him that she is not in love with him and that her sole intention in traveling with him was to disprove his theory. Adi stays in Hyderabad while Avi returns to her hometown of Visakhapatnam. As Avi accepts her parents’ proposal, her wedding is scheduled with a different boy. How is Adi going to respond?
