TheatreA. R. Murugadoss wrote and directed the 2017 Indian action-thriller movie Spyder, which N. V. Prasad also produced. Mahesh Babu, S. J. Suryah, and Rakul Preet Singh are among its cast members. It was simultaneously shot in Tamil and Telugu. The Telugu version was written by the Paruchuri Brothers, while Murugadoss authored the dialogue in Tamil. Santosh Sivan handled the cinematography, Harris Jayaraj handled the music composition, and A. Sreekar Prasad handled the editing. In the movie, Shiva, an IB officer, decides to protect the residents of Hyderabad/Chennai after learning that a psychopath is at large.
After an unsuccessful attempt to simultaneously release Brahmotsavam (2016) in Tamil and Telugu, Babu makes his Tamil cinema debut with this one. Before Spyder was chosen as the official title on March 18, 2017, the movie’s working title was Abhimanyudu and Sambhavami. Production on the movie started in July 2016, followed by the start of principal photography. Prior to ending up in August 2017, the majority of the filming took place in Chennai, with certain scenes also shot in and around Hyderabad and Vizag and the songs abroad.
Telugu, Tamil, Arabic, and Malayalam versions of Spyder were theatrically released on September 27, 2017, while US and Gulf versions were released on September 26. Critics gave the movie mixed reviews, praising the acting (especially Surya and Babu’s), action scenes, and director while criticizing the screenwriting and pacing. It made $150 billion against a budget of only 120 billion, and as a result of the high production costs, the movie bombed at the box office.
IB agent Shiva creates a tool to track people’s calls and messages in order to assist them. On the evening of March 16, Shiva hears Charlie (Shalini in the Tamil version) discuss her desire to improve her exam score to 98% from 96% in order to earn a US scholarship with her friend. She decides to go on a blind date with a guy in order to accomplish that because she thinks it will help her focus on her schoolwork. Shiva pursues her, and the two begin to fall in love. However, Shiva finds it challenging to concentrate on his romantic life due to his employment. On the evening of April 28, Shiva hears a little girl pleading with her buddy for assistance.
