Story:

Rockstar is a Hindi musical romantic drama film from India, written and directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film features Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles, supported by Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra, Sanjana Sanghi, Aakash Dahiya, and Shammi Kapoor in significant roles. The soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman. Notably, the film includes the last screen appearance of Shammi Kapoor, who passed away on 14 August 2011.

The story follows a college student named Janardhan, a naive young man seeking inspiration to awaken his inner musician. Although heartbreak propels him to success, it also leads to his downfall.

“Rockstar” was released globally in theaters on 11 November 2011. With a budget of ₹60 crores, it grossed ₹71 crores worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year, particularly resonating with young urban audiences. It garnered widespread critical acclaim, particularly for its innovative concept, story, screenplay, dialogue, soundtrack, and cast performances, with Ranbir Kapoor’s performance receiving significant praise.

The film won numerous awards, including 10 nominations at the 57th Filmfare Awards, such as Best Film, Best Director for Ali, and Best Female Debut for Fakhri. It secured 5 awards, including Best Actor for Kapoor and Best Music Director for Rahman.

Over time, “Rockstar” has developed a cult following, and its soundtrack is often hailed as the best music album of the decade.
