Shernaz Patel

Biography:

Actress Shernaz Patel is from India and performs in both Hindi and English language theater and motion pictures. She is most recognized for her parts in Guzaarish (2010) and Black (2005), as well as English language theater in Mumbai. In 1984, she debuted on stage in The Diary of Anne Frank. With Rahul da Cunha and Rajit Kapur, she founded the RAGE theater group in Mumbai in 1993.

Since then, she has performed in a number of renowned English theater performances in Mumbai. Additionally, she provided the voice of Yashoda in the television series Little Krishna.

Shernaz Patel was raised in a theatrical setting and was born in Mumbai. Her parents are Gujarati stage veterans Ruby and Burjor Patel. During her education at Fort Covent School, she took part in plays under the direction of Pearl Padamsee.

Elphinstone College, University of Mumbai, is where she received her degree. The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama is where she completed her master’s degree in acting after that.

She debuted in a movie with Kumar Gaurav in Mahesh Bhatt’s 1986 TV series Janam. She and Rajit Kapoor played the lead roles in the English drama Love Letters for the first time in 1992, with Rahul da Cunha directing. The play is being performed right now.

In 2008 saw her make a comeback to soap operas following 23 years of filming different projects. Little Zizou, the 2009 directorial debut of screenwriter and longtime Mira Nair associate Sooni Taraporevala, included her as an actor. She was featured in Rockstar in 2011.

She starred in Reema Kagti’s thriller drama Talaash in 2012. She shared the stage with actors like Rajit Kapur and Neil Bhoopalam at the Times Noida festival in 2014. She appeared in the 2015 YashRaj Films YouTube miniseries “Bang Baaja Baaraat” with Ali Fazal, Angira Dhar, Gajraj Rao, Rajit Kapur, Ayesha Raza, Neil Bhoopalam, Preetika Chawla, and Priyanshu Painyuli. She portrayed the mother of the siblings in the TVF Tripling season finale in 2016.
