TheatreRazneesh “Razy” Ghai is the director of the upcoming Indian Hindi-language historical battle movie 120 Bahadur, which translates to “120 Bravehearts.” Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios are the producers. Farhan Akhtar plays Major Shaitan Singh in the movie, while Raashii Khanna plays Shaitan Singh’s wife, Shagun Kanwar. The movie tells the story of the Battle of Rezang La, one of the key moments in the Sino-Indian War, which took place on November 18, 1962, when 120 Ahir soldiers from Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, defended their position against a contingent of 3000 Chinese Army soldiers, suffering over 1300 casualties.
The film features Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, who was posthumously granted the Param Vir Chakra which is India’s highest military honour, for his courage in the Battle of Rezang La. It is set for a theatrical release on 21 November 2025. It will also be presented in the Gala Premiere segment at the 56th International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) in Goa on the same date. Haqeeqat (1964 film) was also based on the same battle during the 1962 war.
The movie, which is based on a true story, tells the story of the conflict as remembered by one of the six soldiers who survived the Battle of Rezang La. The heroic deed of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and 120 Ahir soldiers, who refused to leave the position and instead decided to fight till the last man, last bullet, is recounted in the movie. The Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military decoration, was posthumously awarded to Shaitan Singh, the man who uttered the quote/declaration “Hum Peechhe Nahin Hatenge!” or “.” In addition to Shaitan Singh, other soldiers received 8 Vir Chakra, 1 Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and 4 Sena Medal for their valour.
The battle, which took place on November 18, 1962, on the Rezang La pass in Ladakh, which is roughly 5,500 meters (18,000 feet) above sea level and overlooks Chushul hamlet, saw 120 soldiers engage in a well-known last stand against a Chinese contingent of 3,000 before being overwhelmed. Only six Indian soldiers made it out alive in the end.
