Vincent Regan
Biography:
Vincent Regan (born May 16, 1965) is a Welsh actor known for his work in film and television.
He was born in Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales, and attended St Joseph’s College in Ipswich. When his parents returned to Ireland in 1983, he moved to London, where he trained at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts.
Regan first appeared on British television in 1992 in the fifth series of London’s Burning, playing Don, a romantic interest of firefighter Kate Stevens. That same year, he portrayed PC Shelby alongside David Jason’s DI Jack Frost in A Touch of Frost. In addition to his screen work, he has performed in more than 15 stage productions, including playing Achilles in Troilus and Cressida at the Edinburgh International Festival.
In 1999, he earned an Irish Best Actor nomination for his role in the miniseries Eureka Street. He later appeared as Marc Antony in the 2005 miniseries Empire, alongside Emily Blunt and James Frain.
Regan featured in several major films, including Troy (2004), where he played Eudorus, Achilles’ second-in-command; 300 (2006), as the Captain; and Clash of the Titans (2010), in which he portrayed King Cepheus.
In 2012, he announced plans to establish the East Riding Theatre in Beverley, East Yorkshire, alongside Judi Dench and other actors. That same year, he appeared in films such as Outside Bet and Lockout.
Beyond acting, Regan is also a writer and director, working on projects for his own production company. One of his scripts, Come Like Shadows, is a modern take on Macbeth, featuring Sean Bean and Tilda Swinton and set to be directed by John Maybury. He also made a brief appearance in the British series The Street.
In 2013, he guest-starred in the first episode of series 10 of New Tricks, and in 2014, he appeared as the Duke of Savoy in The Musketeers. Later that year, he joined the BBC series Atlantis as Dion for its second season.
He also played King Simon in the series The Royals. In 2023, Regan took on the role of Vice Admiral Garp in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece.
