Peddi is one of the most awaited films in recent times. Ever since the first look was out, there has been a solid buzz for this Ram Charan starrer. The film was released today and read our review here.
Peddi Story: Peddi(Ram Charan) belongs to a suppressed community and is from a village which does not even have a name and is not recognized by the government. The sad stage is that his village does not even have a railway station. Upset with this, Peddi decides to become a wrestler and take part in Indian games so that his village gets noticed. But to his bad luck, a series of incidents keep pinging him back throughout. The rest of the story is about how Peddi goes against all odds and accomplishes his mission.
Performances: Ram Charan has given one of his career best performances in Peddi. If Rangasthalam was top notch, Charan takes it a notch higher with Peddi Be it his look, body language or the way he immerse in all the melodramatic scenes, you will be completely taken back by Ram Charan‘s performance. Janhvi Kapoor gets a slightly better role, though she is there for glamour.
Jagapati Babu is one of the highlights of the film as his character brings a lot of depth to the film. Shivarajkumar gets a meaty role and places a very good character in Peddi. Divyendu makes an impressive debut and makes his presence felt in the film. The rest of the cast were just about okay.

Technical aspects: AR Rahman breathes life into the film with his solid score B. The songs are the background score. A R Rahman completely kills it. The story of the film is routine, but the manner in which Buchi Babu Sana has narrated is very good. The production values of the film are top notch and the VFX used is not that great. The dancers and choreography are amazing, especially credit should go to the art director, Avinash Kola, who has done a wonderful job with his sets.
Analysis: Sports dramas are quite common these days But the manner in which they are made is the real trick. Buchi Babu, the director, takes a very predictable story, but the manner in which he has set things up in an emotional way is the biggest highlight of Peddi. Though you know where the story is headed, the manner in which he has engaged the audience right till the very end is the best part of the film, though the film starts on a very dull note.
Despite Ramcharan getting introduced through a super song, the Janhvi Kapoor track and other aspects makes it look routine, but the film kick starts right before the pre-interval and the interval bank is a highlight from there, the manner in which the film holds its emotional content till the end is superb.
The climax twist is one of the biggest highlights of the film and credit should go to Ram Charan for even approving such a script with the drama romance, Grandier and solid emotional content. The manner in which the sports are also showcased is one of the highlights of the film. Despite being a bit lengthy, the film has all the elements to become a good Hit at the box office. Just ignore a few glitches here and there that will entertain you throughout.
Verdict: On the hall, Peddi is a well mate, emotional sports drama that it’s the right note. Ram Charan gives an award winning performance and Buchi Babu Sanana delivers what was expected from him as there are no films which will become Ashu Arshad hit at the box office.
Bottom Line: Emotion filled sports drama
Peddi Rating: 3/5
