Biography:

Vijendra Singh Beniwal, commonly known as Vijender Singh, is an Indian professional boxer and former amateur boxer. He was born on October 29, 1985, in Kaluwas, Bhiwani district, Haryana, India. Vijender Singh is regarded as one of the most successful Indian boxers and has represented India in various international competitions.

Vijender Singh gained recognition on the global stage when he won a bronze medal in the middleweight category at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, becoming the first Indian boxer to secure an Olympic medal. This achievement brought him immense fame and made him a national hero.

As an amateur boxer, Vijender Singh also clinched several other medals at prestigious international events, including the 2006 Commonwealth Games (gold), the 2006 Asian Games (bronze), and the 2010 Commonwealth Games (gold).

In 2015, Vijender Singh decided to turn professional and signed with Queensberry Promotions, a British boxing promotion company.
