Ramasamy (1926-2002) was an Indian film icon whose versatility shone through his numerous character roles in Tamil films spanning over five decades, from 1947 to 2001. He was a talented actor, comedian, and producer, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.

Born in 1926, V.K. Ramasamy, known as “VKR,” possessed a lifelong passion for acting. At 21, he captivated audiences as a 60-year-old in “Naam Iruvar” (1947), launching his career as a versatile character actor. Over five decades, he graced over 500 films, working with legends like M.G. Ramachandran and even younger stars like Kamal Haasan. His remarkable talent allowed him to embody diverse characters with ease. Kamal Haasan himself recognized VKR’s profound impact, acknowledging him as one of the 60 key figures shaping his own career.
